Laura Mercier| Mineral Powder

I was looking through my posts and I realised that I haven't actually posted about this and I really should have! This has become a firm favourite of mine over the summer.

You know when you walk past over all the expensive counters and they just instantly make you feel intimated? or is that just me? Well I had that with Laura Mercier. It all looks so posh and sophisticated and I just didn't think I would find anything that would be in my price range or that I didn't feel I was getting totally ripped off. I am not going to lie, this powder is not cheap and I did have to think long and hard about buying this!

One day I plucked up the courage to go and actually have a look at this counter. I had seen several bloggers talking about Laura Mercier makeup especially this powder and I just thought why the hell not! I'll have a look, if I don't like it i can just walk away. The MUA was lovely and we had a really nice chat. I decided that I was going to brave letting her take all of my make up off and re do it using this powder as my base.

I must admit I was instantly impressed! My skin looked flawless..like seriously, at that point in time I was having issues with my skin and it just looked so good. I didn't jump straight in and buy it then and the MUA was really nice about it. She even said for me to go away and see how I felt about in couple hours. She gave me a little sample so I could take it away and apply at home as well. It's little things like that, that can really make a company! I didn't feel pressured into buying the product at all. She wanted me to be happy with what I was buying.
You can guess the rest of the story I went back and bought it and haven't looked back since!

The powder is really fine so you don't end up looking caked which can often happen with powders. I have tried several different brushes with this and I seem to get the best results with my Real Techniques Kabuki brush or the Expert Face brush but this is all down to personal preference.

I do use this powder on it's own and love it. It also works good over a BB cream if you want that little bit more coverage. One of the best things about this powder is it doesn't look like a powder on your skin. It almost has an illuminating effect. It's not matte it has a dewy glow to it.

The lasting power of this really depends how you use it. I wouldn't recommend using this without a primer as I find it can sometimes sit in pores and it doesn't have the wear time it has if you use a primer. If you use a primer the wear time is pretty good, it's not the best but it will last a good 6-7 hours. I used to wear this to work and I would do a little touch up around my more oily areas and that would see me through!

Right I think I need to stop now. This has turned into a bit of an essay! In conclusion You need to go buy this powder. It is incredible. Yes it is on the more expensive side but this will last you ages (I promise) and you really can't beat a flawless looking face now can you?

Mineral powder can be bought at Laura Mercier counters, Space NK in store or online (Space NK don't give out samples of none prepackaged samples- I got mine from Fenwicks)

  1. I really want to try this. I've heard loads of good reviews about it but I don't really wear powder and only use one to set my make-up so I use the bogstandard Rimmel one
